Sarah Woodruff

Born in Washington, DC, Sarah was raised by an infectious disease pathologist and a clinical psychology professor so her early interest in microbiology and scientific research was unsurprising. Add to that additional degrees in math and statistics as well as bioinformatics and her love of what data can do for you is clear. She has worked for a scientific services organization as well as academic institutions and has contributed to the leadership of both local and regional SAS user communities.

She lives one neighborhood over from where she grew up which means she has access to the trails that run through DC; it is a city of parks and not just politics. She lifts heavy and works out hard so that she can also cook and bake. Collecting biographies of Catherine the Great is paired with a love of movies and records. Whether at work or at home, both her colleagues and her family will know her to say, “why not?” rather than “why?”.

The place that brings her the most peace is Hampton Beach in New Hampshire with its green-blue water so cold it remains clear. Since absconding to New England is not always feasible, her family’s black mouthed cur, Lando, is also a balm as he is deeply adorable. Sarah lives her blend of smart, sarcastic, and supportive.
